2024 Student Leadership & Advocacy Program Empowers Future Podiatric Leaders

On October 11, 2024, nearly 70 UTRGV SOPM students joined us at the Harlingen Convention Center for the Student Leadership & Advocacy Program. The event focused on developing leadership skills and empowering students to advocate for the podiatric profession.

Engaging roundtable discussions helped students explore their leadership styles, strengthen teamwork, and define the mission of the TPMSA chapter. Special guest Senator Morgan LaMantia shared insights on advocacy, the growing need for podiatrists in Texas, and legislative support for UTRGV’s School of Podiatric Medicine.

By the program’s end, students left with a deeper understanding of leadership, the value of professional organizations, and the importance of advocacy at both state and national levels.

TPMA looks forward to hosting another inspiring Student Leadership & Advocacy Program in 2026!
