Editor's Note

May 2024

I am so happy to announce that we have had great feedback from the first few issues of Foot Notes that have been released so far! Thank you to all of whom have taken the time to write.  I am thrilled to hear that these small practice pearls have been helpful to so many of you.

We would appreciate any feedback that you may have.  We have a variety of authors coming up in the next few months to cover various topics.  If there is a topic that you would like addressed in our upcoming newsletters, please email me so I can make sure that we can include them. Alternatively, if you’d like to contribute and be an author of one of our issues, we’d like to hear from you.

About this issue

Having an efficient practice that has consistent performance is key to thriving today in the world of medicine.  One of the largest factors affecting private practice, larger based clinics as well as university hospitals is the rate of patient no-shows.

In this issue we will dive into how no-show appointments affect your practice performance, the reason why patients do not show up for their appointments as well as ways to reduce the no show rates.  Best case scenario in terms of no-show rates according to a study in 2010 was noted to be 15%.
